While I am in the mood to look at trends [see post: 6 factors that make a marketing leader successful made yesterday], this article on VentureBeat does a good job of highlighting the trends in Online Advertising; in particular the Content vs Community debate, which continues to surface, re-surface (and yet never go away).

  1. The brand experience is key. It’s important that brands make it crystal clear want they are not, as well as what they are.

    By obviously, but politely, rejecting some market segments they can make their brand equity stronger.

    Extra Strong Peppermints is a simple but good example.

  2. With social media the community is the content. By allowing people to create and share their own content you get engagement and trust. Mainstream media don’t get that yet.

    3. The community creates more of the content
